In 2016 R.I.Sutton set out to produce her 136-page short story collection, Closer than Breathing, Seven Tales, using only traditional bookmaking techniques. She was supported in this endeavour by her partner, artist Kain White. White engraved the images for each of the book's story title pages, as well as the cover image itself. These remarkable engravings are now on offer as limited-edition prints.
Each image is a symbolic rather than an illustrative interpretation of Sutton’s tales. Inspired stylistically by traditional alchemical and early-to-late modern anatomical illustration, White represents a body that is dissected, not to reveal a mechanical system—but a transformative, macrocosmic being.

About the Edition
- Printed on 160 gsm Pescia Editions Magnani 100% Cotton Paper by hand using a Western Proof Press
- Each sheet is 10 X 13 inches and each image is approximately 4 X 6 inches (sold unframed)
- Each image is printed in an edition of up to 10
- All printed from blocks engraved by Kain White using Resingrave (with the exception of Thoracic Cavity which is printed using an endgrain maple block)
- 4 images in the edition are hand-coloured in watercolour
- Signed and numbered by the artist
- All prints are for sale in Australian dollars
